Minimally invasive gynecologic oncology
Gynecologic cancers demand high-level surgical expertise and a multidisciplinary approach. Dr. Alin Constantin offers modern surgical treatment, whenever possible using minimally invasive techniques.
Gynecologic oncology — expertise and compassion
A diagnosis of gynecologic cancer is difficult news. Dr. Alin Constantin's approach combines high-level surgical expertise with empathetic, transparent communication — so that patients understand every step of the process and feel supported.
Whenever possible, the procedure is performed with minimally invasive techniques (laparoscopy or robotic surgery), maintaining the same rigorous oncologic standards as open surgery, but with clear benefits for the patient's recovery.
Conditions treated
- Endometrial cancer — the most common gynecologic malignancy, often diagnosed in early stages
- Cervical cancer — early stages, fertility-sparing or radical surgical treatment
- Ovarian tumors — benign and malignant, evaluation and surgical treatment
- Cervical pre-malignant lesions — conization, LEEP, fertility-sparing treatment
- Vulvar pre-malignant lesions — evaluation and tailored treatment
- Surgical staging — for ovarian and endometrial tumors
Gynecologic oncology procedures
Laparoscopic/robotic hysterectomy
Removal of the uterus with a minimally invasive technique for endometrial or cervical cancer. The procedure may include removal of lymph nodes (lymphadenectomy) for accurate staging.
Radical hysterectomy
Complex procedure for cervical cancer — removal of the uterus with the parametria and a portion of the vagina. Performed laparoscopically or robotically, with significant recovery advantages.
Pelvic lymphadenectomy
Removal and examination of pelvic and para-aortic lymph nodes for accurate staging of gynecologic cancer.
Ovarian tumor surgery
Excision of ovarian tumors with intraoperative histopathological analysis (frozen section) to determine benign or malignant character and adjust surgical strategy.
When to see a specialist
Early diagnosis of gynecologic cancers significantly increases the cure rate. Do not ignore these symptoms:
- Abnormal bleeding — after menopause, between periods, or heavy bleeding
- Persistent pelvic pain — especially if it worsens
- Abdominal enlargement — persistent bloating, feeling of fullness
- Abnormal vaginal discharge — change in color, smell, or amount
- Pain during intercourse — especially when associated with bleeding after intercourse
- Urinary or bowel symptoms — recent changes without explanation
Important: The symptoms above do not automatically confirm a cancer diagnosis — they can be caused by benign conditions. However, prompt medical evaluation is essential.
Preventive screening
Pap smear (PAP test)
Every 1–3 years, starting at age 21
HPV test
From age 30+, combined with Pap test every 5 years
Pelvic ultrasound
Annually or whenever symptoms appear
Do not delay a medical evaluation
